Mango Sweet Thokku


Raw Mango - 1 Big
Mustard - 1/2 Teaspoon
Oil - 1 Tablespoon
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
Curry leaves - 1 strings
Jaggery (grated) - 3 Teaspoon
Salt - to taste


1. Wash and Peel the Mango and remove the seed cut into small pieces.

2. Pour Oil in a pan and heat. When oil boils add Mustard seeds and after they splutter add Curry leaves, Asafoetida and allow it for seasoning.

3. Then add Chilli powder, Salt, Cut mango and mix well. Add 1/4 cup of water and allow it to cook.

4. After the mango has cooked well, add the grated Jaggery, mix well and cook for 5 minutes in mild flame and remove from heat.


1. As this thokku is a mixture of Sweet, Sour, Spicy taste it will be delicious.

2. As this thokku is like a jam, it can be used as a side dish for Chappathi and Dosa.

3. It can also be used a side dish for Coconut rice, Curry leaves rice and Curd Rice also.

4. While preparing thokku, you should cook only in mild flame.
