Gooseberry Pickle


Gooseberry (Big) - 10
Lemon - 5
Fenugreek - 1/2 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
Mustard - 1 Teaspoon
Oil - 1/4 Cup
Chilli powder - as required
Salt - to taste


1. Wash the gooseberry and cook in steam without adding water.

2. Cool the cooked gooseberry and remove the seeds by peeling the gooseberry.

3. Add Salt, Turmeric powder, Chilli powder, Lemon Juice to the gooseberry.

4. Fry the Fenugreek and Cumin seeds separately and grind them to powder.

5. Pour Oil into a pan and boil. Add mustard and allow it to splutter and then add Fenugreek and Cumin seed powder and mix.

6. Add this fried oil mixture to the gooseberry and mix well. 7. Tasty and Spicy Gooseberry pickle is now ready to tase.


1. You can also prepare this pickle using small gooseberry. But you should use less amount of Salt and Chilli powder.
